One of the very first things you will do after getting engaged is choose your wedding venue. This can be a very exciting task, and yet a daunting one if you don’t know where to start or what to look for. As usual, we are here to make your planning process easier and more stress-free, so we have rounded up some of our very favorite wedding venues in Greenville, SC and the Upstate.
This is by no means an exhaustive, all-encompassing list, but it does contain some of our absolute favorite places for you to get married and celebrate with all of your loved ones. Once you narrow your choices down, we highly encourage you to contact those venues in which you are most interested to take a tour and meet the staff. If you are feeling super overwhelmed, contact us to inquire about our “Getting Started” Package! And if you are ready to book a wedding planner, we would love to hear from you!
Do you wish you could get married somewhere in Europe? Or do you dream of getting married in a quiet location surrounded by rolling hills in a place that makes you feel like you’re in another world? If so, Hotel Domestique might be your perfect venue. This beautiful boutique hotel is nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains of South Carolina and has a unique, luxurious blend of Old World style and modern design aspects that take guests far beyond the routine of ordinary life. It’s in a perfect location, right between Asheville and Greenville, so guests have limitless opportunities for sightseeing, eating, shopping, relaxing, and celebrating a wedding. Hotel Domestique is, by far, one of Bespoken’s favorite wedding venues in the Upstate of South Carolina, and we are thrilled with every wedding we have the honor of planning in this location.
If you know Greenville, you likely know Larkin’s, or at least one of their restaurants (Larkin’s on the River, Grill Marks, or Limoncello). What you may not know is that Larkin’s also has a catering service and several event venues. Between the Wyche Pavilion, the Sawmill, L, the Courtyard, Thomas Roe Founder’s Room, and Shirley Roe Cabaret Room, your options are limitless. And each space is unique and offers so much potential in terms of your wedding design. I personally chose to hold our ceremony at The Founder’s Room and our reception at L (see more of our wedding here). And if you decide to use one of their venues, you also get the privilege of having Larkin’s cater your wedding…and their food is delicious!
THE CLIFFS AT GLASSY CHAPEL
Of all the venues to get married in around Greenville, SC, The Cliffs at Glassy Chapel is one of our favorites. Perched on top of a mountain and overlooking miles and miles of beautiful South Carolina landscape, the stone chapel gifts everyone with an incredible view and picturesque moments. With wooden pews and large windows surrounding all 3 sides of the chapel, you can’t help but catch your breath when witnessing a couple exchange vows in this special place. While you can only host your ceremony at the chapel, there are plenty of reception venues within driving distance…some of which are within The Cliffs communities! And no, you do not have to be a member of The Cliffs in order to host an event there :)
The Commerce Club sits on the top level of the One Liberty Square building in downtown Greenville and has one of the best views of the city that you’ll find. On one side of the building you can watch the sun set over the mountains in the distance, and on the other side you’ll see our city’s skyline. It’s a beautiful space in the heart of downtown with plenty of hotels nearby. You can also easily hold your ceremony at a nearby location (perhaps one of the churches or even The Cliffs at Glassy Chapel), and then point your guests towards the Commerce Club for dinner, dancing, and celebrating! You don’t have to be a member to host an event here…reach out to us for more info!
THE WESTIN POINSETT
If you know Greenville, SC, then you likely know of its historic hotel in the middle of downtown, The Westin Poinsett. The hotel opened in 1925 and still exudes luxury, sophistication, and elegance. Its 12 stories boast grandeur on a historic level and have seen many famous guests including Bobby Kennedy, Amelia Earhart, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and Ben Stein. The lobby bar has a jazz piano and is perfect for mingling before or after events, and between the Gold Ballroom, the Poinsett Ballroom, and The Spoonbread Restaurant, there are plenty of options to host your wedding. With its historic charm and beauty, you don’t even have to do much to create a beautiful wedding design. Definitely reach out to schedule a tour!
Another beautiful venue in the heart of downtown Greenville is the Huguenot Loft. Built in 1882 as a fully operational textile mill, it has since been renovated to an event space with the original wood floors, wood beamed ceiling, and exposed brick. Between it’s view of the Reedy River and abundant natural light, there is so much opportunity to create a truly unique and beautiful wedding design in this space. If you’re looking for an industrial, historic venue space, then definitely reach out and schedule a tour of this beautiful venue!
If you’re newly engaged and haven’t booked a venue but would like help and guidance, we have a “Getting Started” package that may be perfect for you! If you’re interested, fill out our contact form for a complimentary phone consultation.
