A Romantic Blush Wedding at The Old Cigar Warehouse in Greenville, SC

From the moment I talked to Kally on the phone about helping her plan hers and Matt’s wedding, I knew that I wanted her to become a Bespoken Bride Laid-back, cool, with a love for life and people, she was so easy to talk to, and I could only cross my fingers she chose us as her wedding planner. Sure enough - she did! And we were elated.

We started planning her wedding at Old Cigar Warehouse, to take place in December 2018. Neither she nor Matt wanted an “over the top” wedding. They wanted it to be romantic and timeless, but not trendy. They wanted to specifically add details that nodded to the two of them and the things they love and care about most.

After going through our Design Process, we created a concept that included romantic touches, soft fabrics, lots of greenery, and shades of blush, grays, and ivory with hints of gold. And candlelight throughout dinner. Our goal was to soften the brick and industrial look of the venue to create a more romantic atmosphere. To further create that intimate and romantic vibe, Kally & Matt chose to treat their guests to a family-style meal, which was a huge hit! We worked in a Donut Wall since the two of them love donuts, as well as gourmet popsicles to nod toward their love of ice cream.

It was a beautiful night full of laughter, dancing, good food, and celebration…and we were so honored to play a role in this special day. If you want to read more about this precious couple, their wedding plans, their advice, and their experience with us, read on!!! And we hope you enjoy some of our favorite photos that the amazingly talented Ryan & Alyssa captured throughout the day :)

Kally & Matt - we adore you!!!

How did you two meet? On Bumble! Hehe.

How long have you been together? 2.5 years

What was your favorite moment and/or detail from your wedding? Am I allowed to pick everything? One of my absolute favorite moments was when Matt and I were introduced after cocktail hour and came down the stairs to see all of our guests in front of us. It's a really special feeling to have everyone you love in one room helping you celebrate the start of your marriage!

How was your experience working with us for your wedding? THE ABSOLUTE BEST. I've obviously never planned my own wedding so I don't know what the process would have looked like without a planner, but it was the best decision we could have made. Shannon and her assistants made our day run flawlessly. We had so many positive comments from our guests and other vendors about how seamless our entire night was.

What would you have done differently during your planning process? Hired you sooner! I had already booked some of my vendors before booking Bespoken, but I wish I had just reached out to you in the initial thinking/planning phase.

How would you describe your overall wedding experience? Fantastic, best day EVER, wish I could have a wedding once per year! Planning was tedious and time consuming, but very well worth it.

Did you see each other before the wedding? If not, did you like waiting, or would you have done it differently? Tell us why and why not! We saw each other! I LOVED having a first look because it calmed my nerves. Walking down the aisle was still very special to me. We also really wanted to be a part of our entire wedding day, so seeing each other and taking pictures before the ceremony allowed us to be fully present for the entire ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.

Tell us about your dress! Where did you find it, how did you choose it, and how did you know it was "the one"? My dress was actually a sample gown from Fabulous Frocks (now Gown Collective) in Atlanta. I actually went to just try on different silhouettes before heading to New York for a girls weekend to try on dresses at Kleinfeld (this was something my Dad gifted to me as a surprise, which was very special and so much fun). I tried on four or five dresses before mine, and when I slipped mine on I had that weird feeling that everyone says you get, and knew it was the one!

What was the first song you danced to as Newlyweds? Father-Daughter Dance song? Mother-Son Dance Song? First Dance- "I Choose You" by Sara Bareilles || Father-Daughter- "You're the Sunshine of My Life" by Stevie Wonder || Mother-Son- "You'll be in My Heart" by Phil Collins

What were you most anxious, nervous, or fearful about regarding your wedding day, and what was the outcome? Two things: I initially was most worried about not feeling well. Before we hired Bespoken, I was stressed out about the potential of doing this all on our own. I have an autoimmune disease, Ulcerative Colitis, that can flare up, and one thing that causes these flares for me is stress. So, the only thing I could think about was "what if I have a flare close to the wedding". Enter, Bespoken! I was also nervous that we wouldn't be able to fit all of our guests in the Cellar for a seated dinner, but Shannon was a ninja and made it work so beautifully, and at least from my perspective, everyone looked comfortable!

What wedding planning advice would you offer to couples who are currently planning their wedding? Hire a planner. I remember early on when talking to Shannon, I reflected on something I had read in different articles/websites that she had repeated in our first conversation. "Every other service and/or vendor you use in your wedding, you will see a tangible product. With a planner, you get a peace of mind." And it's so so so true!

Any tips on what to bring/pack for your wedding day? Comfy shoes, a hanky, contact solution (so thankful I had mine on hand because my contact was messed up right before the ceremony and I was able to fix it!)

Any tips on how to prepare to work with Bespoken? Have a budget in mind before starting to talk details! It helped me keep a good frame of mind.
