One of our favorite wedding venues in the Greenville, SC area is Hotel Domestique, so when Molly & Alex reached out to us to help plan their winter wedding there, we were ecstatic. With all but one wedding guest traveling from out of town, we knew this was going to be a special event and a fun weekend for everyone. And when Molly told us she wanted a romantic and moody wedding vibe with deep hues of burgundy woven throughout the day, we knew this was going to be a stunner.
Molly & Alex are truly a special and beautiful couple with many talents and a fun-loving personality. One of our favorite aspects of their wedding weekend was their laid-back rehearsal dinner at Methodical Coffee. They ordered Sidewall Pizza and brought in local beer and wine for their closest friends to enjoy. And then, as coffee lovers, sent them away with custom mugs and candies.
As a couple who knows what they want, planning and collaborating with them on their wedding was so much fun. And since they live in California, all but one of our meetings were held via FaceTime! I even FaceTimed them from Hotel Domestique with Sarah, the venue coordinator, for the menu confirmation and Details Meeting.
When rain and cold weather threatened their wedding day, we had to make some pretty big last minute changes. Molly & Alex didn’t want a tent to block the view of the mountains or surrounding areas, but we also knew the wedding couldn’t take place outdoors otherwise. So the only other option was to move everything inside, and thus change the rental order and menu. I met with Elizabeth of Philo Floral and Sarah of Hotel Domestique about a week prior to the wedding, and Molly gave us the thumbs up to make all final decisions on our own. We completely revamped the wedding plans, made updates as necessary, and crossed our fingers that Molly & Alex would love it. And sure enough…they did (see below for proof!) :)
I’m so excited to share some of our favorite photos of the day that Sposa Bella Photography captured… as well as the wedding trailer from Elevated Eye Films…(be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom!)… and more about the planning process from the bride herself! Molly & Alex…we love you both so much and are still so honored to have planned and celebrated your wedding with you!
How did you two meet? OkCupid - this was in the days before Tinder was OkCupid was still cool :)
How long have you been together? Just over 5 years
What was your favorite moment and/or detail from your wedding? The ceremony! It was short but absolutely perfect. Everything from the music to our officiant to the readings was just what we wanted and we love looking back on it.
How was your experience working with us for your wedding? Bespoken was amazing! Having helpers on hand during the day was so great, even just to remind you to drink water or where you left your phone. Everything about our wedding day was calm, scheduled, and on-time thanks to Bespoken. Even though it was pouring rain, everything went off without a hitch.
What would you have done differently during your planning process? Relaxed! Trust that everything would be perfect no matter what because it was our day and we were finally getting hitched. And to not let other people's comments and opinions bother us.
How would you describe your overall wedding experience? The planning process felt really stressful, but our wedding weekend was absolutely perfect. I wish I could go back and take it easy in the year leading up to our wedding, but I wouldn't change a thing about our wedding weekend.
Did you see each other before the wedding? If not, did you like waiting, or would you have done it differently? Tell us why and why not! We did not see each other all day. I thought I would be nervous and might change my mind, but I wasn't! I'm really glad we waited; there is nothing like that moment of walking down the aisle and seeing your future spouse for the first time. It made that moment really, really special and something to look forward to all day.
Tell us about your dress! Where did you find it, how did you choose it, and how did you know it was "the one"? My dress was from BHLDN; I had a feeling I would find my dress there and I did. It was everyone's hands-down favorite dress I tried it on there. When you know, you know! My dress was two pieces and that felt really special and unique.
What was the first song you danced to as Newlyweds? Mother-Son Dance Song? Our first song was "What Would I Do Without You" by Drew Holcomb. The mother-son dance was "You Are the Sunshine of My Life."
What were you most anxious, nervous, or fearful about regarding your wedding day, and what was the outcome? I was most nervous about the weather ruining our vibe, and about everything coming together at (what felt like) the last minute. Everything about our day ended up being absolutely perfect. Everything DOES come together, and if it doesn't (1) it wasn't important and (2) you'll be so happy you won't notice! Our day was so beautiful and fun that the weather didn't matter at all.
What wedding planning advice would you offer to couples who are currently planning their wedding? #1: Hire a wedding planner! #2: Decide on a number ($) you both can live with and then stick to it!
Any tips on what to bring/pack for your wedding day? A robe that you love! It will be in more pictures (and maybe video) than you think and you'll want to love it :) And you can never have too many snacks.
Any tips on how to prepare to work with Bespoken? The more you know and can communicate what you want for your wedding, the more Bespoken can help you make that vision a reality! Also, listen to Shannon; she's done this more than you! If she thinks something would be not worth the expense, WORTH the expense, too hectic, etc. chances are she's right!
