Welcome back to my wedding planning journey! Today I'm going to talk about the wedding cake and desserts!
I'll be honest... I'm not a huge "sweet" person. I much more prefer savory over sweet, but I do love a good wedding cake, and when it came time to choose our baker, the decision was easy: Couture Cakes of Greenville.
We originally decided on a small cake for us to cut and then have an assortment of mini desserts for guests to enjoy (including one of my favorite desserts - s'mores), but with families who love cake, and as two people who aren't huge dessert-lovers, we decided to get a slightly larger cake with a surprise dessert on the side.
We met with Susan, owner of Couture Cakes of Greenville, for our tasting. I had pre-selected a few flavors for us to try (all of which I have tried at a wedding at some point or another over the years). We ultimately decided on 3 flavors for a 3-tiered cake.
Our cake will not be a traditional wedding cake (i.e., tiered, white, lovely, etc. - like the pics below), but will be a bit more modern to coincide with our overall design aesthetic.
To not spoil any surprises for those attending our wedding, I'm not going to share more about the cake's design or the little dessert surprise, but you can see some inspiration below.
