The Sweetest Wedding at Lowndes Grove Plantation | Charleston, SC

The Sweetest Wedding at Lowndes Grove Plantation | Charleston, SC

We had the honor of helping Chase and Mekaela, two of the sweetest people, plan their Charleston wedding at Lowndes Grove Plantation. It was by far one of the most tender, meaningful weddings we've ever witnessed. With a strong focus on God, each other, and their families, these two lovebirds made sure that no moment was overlooked. The decor and details were simple, yet strong in meaning. The love between Chase and Mekaela is strong and steadfast, and this was one of those weekends where you walk away and never forget the emotion. Carrie Elizabeth captured the day so well. We'll let the photos and Chase and Mekaela tell you the story...

New Orleans-Inspired Brunch Wedding in Charleston

New Orleans-Inspired Brunch Wedding in Charleston

This post is long overdue. Courtney and Chad were married in Charleston last September at The Cedar Room. With a neutral color palette, plenty of Southern details, a cigar rolling bar, a Bourbon Bar, a jazz band, a Motown band, and New Orleans-inspired details (like their second line), their brunch wedding was one for the books. Their custom branding elevated everything to the next level. We had such fun planning their wedding over the course of the year... and to see everything come together in beautiful, sunny Charleston, was PERFECT.

Bespoken Couple: Meet Chase & Mekaela

Bespoken Couple: Meet Chase & Mekaela

These two. I have struggled with the right introduction to their blog post because Chase and Mekaela are the absolute sweetest. They found us on Instagram last fall as they were looking for a South Carolina wedding planner to help them with their Charleston wedding at Lowndes Grove Plantation. They live in Florida, but are planning a lowcountry destination wedding. I haven't even met them face-to-face yet, but you can literally feel the love between them when you're talking to them, texting them, or Face Timing them. They want their guests to not only witness the love they share, but also clearly see their love of the Lord. It's truly going to be a very meaningful celebration. I mean... look at their top 3 wedding must-haves

Courtney and I actually went to high school together. She was a year behind me, and through our college and post-college days, we lost touch, but thanks to good old Facebook, we reconnected when she got engaged and found herself in need of a wedding planner. I am humbled and honored that she chose me to help with her big day, and I am so excited to introduce you to her today!

How did you and Chad meet? How long have you known each other? Chad and I first met on an online dating app, called Hinge but our first date was at Vin25, a wine bar in Roswell, Georgia. Chad's "love" of tempranillo really impressed me until I surprised him with a bottle on our first anniversary and he was clueless! To this day we enjoy sharing a laugh about him making up wine knowledge to try and impress me on our first date. Lucky for him it worked and we now drink tempranillo on our anniversary to celebrate!

Where do guys like to go on your dates? We love going to brunch, fancy dinners, and concerts!

What is your favorite restaurant or type of food? We love Mexican food and aren't afraid to celebrate "Taco Tuesday" every day of the week!

Complete this sentence: We go together like _______. Biscuits and Jelly!

When did you know he was "the one"? Did he know before you knew? His genuine, loving, compassionate ways told me early on he was "the one." I never knew life could be so good until I met Chad!

How did he propose? Were you surprised? Chad proposed at SNOB, my favorite restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina. I had a feeling it was coming, but it was still the most wonderful night of my life! After dinner, we caught a performance of the Charleston Jazz Orchestra's Christmas concert, then celebrated with a dear friend at Husk!

When and where are you two getting married? What made you decide to get married here? We are getting married in Charleston, South Carolina on September 24, 2017! Charleston has always been special to me as a former resident and having it be a part of our new life together will make it special to both of us. Charleston is such a beautiful city, steeped in history and breathtaking architecture, that it's the perfect romantic place to say I do.

What colors are you using for your wedding? Ivory, gold, and black!

Describe your wedding in three words.: Sunday Jazz Brunch

How would you describe the style of your wedding? Classic, timeless, elegant, and a whole lot of fun!

What are your top 3 must-haves for your wedding? Our five nephews who will serve as ring bearers // Mimosas and bloody marys // Second line parade

What is your favorite wedding blog or magazine?: Charleston Weddings

What have you loved most about planning your wedding? All of the fun planning trips we have been able to take to Charleston as a couple! We've had so much fun coming up with special details that will make the wedding day so unique to us and our relationship.

Are you guys going on a honeymoon? Where? Why did you choose this location? What are you going to do? We're planning a fall honeymoon to London, Paris, and the Rhone Valley! We will enjoy the city life - and a Chelsea game - in London and Paris and then we will relax for a week and soak in the beauty and fine wine of the French countryside.

What are you most excited about in your marriage? Making a life-long commitment to one another and becoming our own little family!

If you could give any future bride one piece of advice, what would you tell her? Take a month to soak it all in and celebrate before all of the planning starts! Also, be sure to take time away from wedding planning to focus on one another and not just the wedding details. Chad and I have been recreating a lot of our first dates to celebrate how far we've come as a couple!
